Adoption fees average between $300-$500, and help with vetting and rescue expenses. At a minimum, every dog has a wellness checkup at our vet, is spayed/neutered, has age appropriate shots, is heartworm tested if age appropriate, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Dogs over 1 year of age receive a ProHeart 12 shot for heartworm prevention. We provide needed medications and dentals, surgeries, and other treatments as needed.
To meet a dog you are interested in adding to your home, start by submitting an adoption application. Our application asks for information to help us determine if a home is the best fit for a dog and if the dog is a good match for your family. Please fill out all fields completely so there is no delay in processing. Vet references and home visits are part of our adoption process. You can find our online application on our Applications page.
We begin by reviewing your application and making sure it closely matches what we are looking for. Our volunteers may call, text, or email with follow up questions. Once an application has been fully reviewed by our team, it is sent to the foster family for review. If they agree it's a good fit, the foster family will contact you to talk to you about the dog and ask and answer questions. If both parties are in agreement, the next step is to meet the dog. This is typically done at our rescue president's home in Pensacola. This gives us an opportunity to meet you and see how you and the dog interact. If all goes well, the adoption can proceed and you can take your new family member home!
